Dr. Jaya Kumar Gurung is a Senior Environment Specialist who has demonstrated long-term expertise in rational development and conservation through multifaceted development projects. His 25 years of experience highlights different capacities in Project implementation, Project Monitoring, and Evaluation, Executive Advisor, Information Communication Technology Expert mainly in multi-stakeholder projects, within the local government as well as with international development agencies. Integration of cross-sectoral development and policy implication, environmental compliances, ecological auditing for sustainable development covers his major scopes of expertise. Currently, Jaya holds the role of Director in CEMAT. Apart from the overall coordination of various national and international projects, his roles include the development of the Project Implementation Framework as well as results-based Monitoring and Evaluation Strategies. He has also served in the Department of Irrigation, Government of Nepal, as a hydrogeologist for 10 years. He provides guidance and oversight to team leaders, evaluation teams, and other staff members on client relations, budgeting and expenses, evaluation activities, Quality Assurance and Quality Management Control systems, and on-the-ground logistics. He has on-ground working experience in countries like Japan, Vietnam, Korea, Bangladesh, the USA, etc.
